Born beneath the vast Andean skies of Ecuador, where mountains rise with quiet authority and the horizon feels both intimate and infinite, her life has unfolded across continents — shaped by Ecuador, drawn again and again to Spain where family, the Mediterranean light, and a culture steeped in beauty have left a lasting mark on her work, and rooted for over a decade in Milton, Georgia, where she lives and works today.
She comes from a long line of artists. Among her ancestors is Daniel Reyes — the celebrated master of San Antonio de Ibarra who, together with his brothers, founded a school of fine arts in 1880 that shaped generations of Ecuadorian artists and helped transform their small Andean town into one of Latin America's most remarkable centers of artistic craft. That legacy is not abstract or symbolic — it is part of her lived inheritance, shaping her sensitivity to form, color, and emotional composition from her earliest years.
Those early horizons never left her. They live in every canvas — in luminous fields of teal and indigo, in the soft boundary where sky surrenders to earth, in the stillness she returns to again and again. Her work moves between abstraction and memory, presence and absence, translating lived experience into layered visual meditations.
Music is essential to her process. While she paints, she moves through the worlds of Ólafur Arnalds, Ludovico Einaudi, and Hermanos Gutiérrez — soundscapes that dissolve the distance between past and present, between continents, between the self and the canvas.
She has exhibited widely — with solo shows and group exhibitions in San Francisco, Danville, Milton, and Alpharetta — and continues to paint, teach, and accept commissions from her studio in Milton, Georgia.
Her paintings are meditations on presence, absence, and a love that transcends geography and time. She paints slowly — in reflection, in reverence.
Every space tells a story. A commissioned work from Gaby Friedman Studio is created in close collaboration — designed around your dimensions, your palette, and the feeling you want to inhabit every day.
Commissions are welcome from private collectors, interior designers, real estate professionals, and corporate clients. Each piece includes a signed certificate of authenticity and free shipping within the United States.
